Study and briefing tours to modern participatory and direct democracy
The Initiative and Referendum Institute Europe (IRI Europe) has hosted dozens of study and briefing tours to modern participatory and direct democracy. A typical tour to Switzerland – a hotspot of dd practice globally – is covering four days and a national initiative and referendum day.
Study groups of 10-20 people are offered introductions into the foundations, practices, administration and impacts of direct democracy at the local, state and national levels. You meet with political practioners, election administrators, journalists, scholars and – citizens in charge.
Other tours are offered featuring referendums and elections in interesting jurisdictions globally – including the forthcoming US presidential elections in November 2020.
